We believe charging should be effortless

Clamp N Charge is a universal USB charging accessory that clamps onto any standard cord to provide USB-A and USB-C charging ports for phones, tablets, laptops, earbuds, and smartwatches.

Unlike lamp-socket adapters that require a compatible socket, it works on most standard cords regardless of location, and it installs in seconds with no tools or modifications, and needs no wall outlet. It has been recommended by Amazon as the more 'universal alternative' to lamp-socket USB adapters.

2021

The Inspiration

Outlets are never where you need them. They hide behind beds, sit blocked by sofas, and run out of room the moment two devices need charging. Florida inventor Garrett Puzzo saw the fix already sitting in plain sight: the lamp cord crossing the nightstand. On April 27, 2021, he filed the patent application for a cord-mounted USB charger that adds charging ports directly on the cord. No new outlet. No rewiring.

2022

The Patent

On November 8, 2022, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office granted Patent No. 11,495,980 B1 for the cord-mounted USB charging design. Clamp N Charge became a category of one: the only patented device that clips two USB ports onto a flat lamp or extension cord, turning the cord you already own into a charging station.

2023

The Engineering

A patent is a promise. 2023 was about keeping it. Prototype after prototype refined the clamp until it seated perfectly on flat 18/2 ribbon cords, tightened with a single Phillips screw, and confirmed power with a green LED. One rule guided every revision: if installing USB on a lamp cord takes more than a minute, it is not done.

2024

The Product

With the design locked, 2024 turned Clamp N Charge into a finished product: dual USB-A ports, regulated 5V 2.1A output, and a free USB-C adapter in every box. Retail packaging, instruction inserts, and production tooling came together around one promise printed on every box: Power. Simplified. Anywhere.

2025

The Proof

Before reaching a single customer's cord, Clamp N Charge went to the lab. In December 2025, Guangdong KAIXU Testing Technology (KTi) independently tested the device to the 62368-1 safety standard used by major consumer electronics brands. It passed. Safety tested, FCC compliant, and patent protected, Clamp N Charge was ready to launch.

Us vs. The Old Way

The old way: crawling behind the nightstand, hunting for an outlet that's always just out of reach.

The Clamp N Charge way: your lamp is already at your bedside so we put the charger exactly where your hand lands.

FAQs

Please visit our Contact page to find out more.

Will Clamp N Charge fit my lamp cord?

Yes, if your cord is flat. It fits flat ribbon-style 18/2 SPT-1/2 lamp and extension cords, the most common type in US homes. Round appliance cords will not work.

Is Clamp N Charge safe?

Yes, Clamp N Charge was independently tested by KTi to IEC 62368-1, the same safety standard used across consumer electronics, and it is FCC compliant.

How do I install it and what tools do I need?

Just a Phillips screwdriver and about a minute. Unplug the cord, seat it in the groove, tighten the included screw, and plug back in. A green light confirms it is working.

How many devices can I charge at once?

Two. The dual USB-A ports share a regulated 5V 2.1A output, and a free USB-C adapter is included for newer phones. It is built for phones, tablets, and earbuds, not laptops.

Can I use it in a dorm or rental?

Absolutely. It never touches your walls or outlets, so there is nothing a landlord could object to. Install it on your lamp cord and take it with you when you move.
